On a lighter note, 30 shortlisted images and videos were chosen from hundreds of entries submitted to the annual Comedy Pet Photo Awards from nearly 70 different countries, with finalists to be announced shortly.
With cute animal antics and photos dominating social media engagement, it seems we all like to see our animal friends in cute and/or funny poses and clips.
This funny competition was created by Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam, both professional photographers to celebrate the positive and vital role that pets have in our lives and to encourage engagement around animal welfare.
This year Comedy Pets is donating a massive £35,000 to animal welfare charities, £10,000 each to 3 separate charities all doing an amazing job, caring for and re-homing abandoned animals: Dean Farm Trust, London Inner City Kitties and Wild at Heart Foundation. The winning photographer of this year’s competition will receive £5,000 to donate to a charity of their choice in addition to a £2,000 first prize.
Pop over to the Comedy Pet Photo Awards website to view the full set of finalists and perhaps add your vote for your own favourite Finalist image in the Animal Friends People’s Choice Award. Voting is open now on the website, just go to Comedy Pet Photo Awards where there is also a chance to enter a free prize draw with £250 up for grabs!! Voting closes on 22nd August 2022.
Their next annual competition submissions open in September if you fancy entering for the 2023 awards.
We'd be happy to see any funny pet or wildlife photos you may have.
